Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to parcse.com (the "Website") and to all software applications published by PARCSE, LLC ("Parcse", "we", "us", or "our"), including but not limited to Looq, Mux, Ajar, and Tray (each, a "Product", and collectively, the "Products"). It describes how we collect, use, and protect information when you visit our Website or use any Product.
Controller and Contact
PARCSE, LLC is a Delaware limited liability company and is the controller of the personal information described in this policy. Contact us at hello@parcse.com for questions about this policy or to exercise the rights described below.
Information You Provide
If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and any other information you choose to include in your message. We use that information only to respond to you, manage the correspondence, and maintain related business records.
Purchase Information
If you purchase a Product through our Website, payment is processed by Stripe. Parcse receives your email address and the transaction details necessary to fulfill your order and deliver a license. We retain the email address alongside the issued license record so that we can resend license information, assist with recovery, and satisfy tax and accounting obligations. We do not receive or store your full payment card information.
Website Data
When you visit our Website, our hosting infrastructure and the third-party resources your browser requests receive standard technical data such as your IP address, user agent, referrer, and request time.
We use first-party and third-party analytics to understand how the Website is used in aggregate. Analytics events do not contain your email address, name, license key, or other direct identifiers, and we do not sell, share, or rent any information collected through them. We do not operate advertising or cross-site tracking.
- Our pages request third-party resources including Apple's marketing assets (for App Store and macOS badges) and a Product Hunt embed widget on the Looq page. Web fonts are served from our own domain.
- These providers receive the request metadata necessary to serve their resources to your browser.
- External links you choose to open are governed by the privacy practices of the relevant third party.
Product Data
Our Products process files and content locally on your device. Files are accessed only as required for a Product's functionality; neither the files nor their contents are transmitted to Parcse. Products do not require a user account, do not collect advertising identifiers, and are not used to build advertising or user profiles.
Network Access
Our Products are designed to operate locally without persistent network connectivity. A Product accesses the network in the following situations:
- Remote resources. When a file references a remote resource (such as an image URL), the Product retrieves that resource directly from the third-party host for rendering. The request does not pass through Parcse servers.
- License activation and verification. Products that require a license activate with Parcse servers and periodically verify the license. Each request transmits your license key, a hardware-derived device identifier (a hash of the Mac's platform UUID), your device name (the Mac's localized host name), your device model (for example, "MacBook Pro"), and the current application version. The device identifier, name, and model appear in the Device Management panel within the application so you can recognize and deactivate devices. These identifiers are used to enforce the device limit of your plan and to detect license abuse; they are not used to build a profile of you as an individual user.
- Free trial. When you start a free trial, Parcse servers record the device identifier, device name, device model, and the requesting IP address. The IP address is stored only as part of the trial record and is used solely to prevent trial abuse. This is the only situation in which we persist a client IP address.
- Update checks. Products check for available updates on a scheduled basis using the Sparkle update framework. These requests transmit the current application version and the same hardware-derived device identifier described in the License Activation section above. The server uses this information to determine whether an update is available and to plan release rollouts.
- Anonymous telemetry. Each Product sends a small amount of anonymous telemetry. It does not include the contents of your files, your settings or rules, or any information about how you use the Product, and is not used to build a profile of you. You can disable telemetry at any time in the Product's preferences.
We do not sell, share, or rent information collected through these network interactions.
Sub-Processors
We use a limited number of third-party service providers to operate the Website and deliver the Products. These sub-processors process personal information only on our behalf and under contractual terms appropriate to their role.
- Cloudflare, Inc. — website hosting and content delivery, database (D1), object storage (R2), key-value storage, and analytics platform.
- Stripe, Inc. — payment processing and tax handling for direct purchases through our Website.
- Apple Inc. — code notarization of macOS apps distributed through our Website.
- Fastmail Pty Ltd. — email delivery for correspondence sent to or from addresses on the
parcse.comdomain. - PostHog Inc. — product analytics for the Website, routed through our reverse proxy at
t.parcse.comand configured in cookieless mode.
International Data Transfers
Parcse is established in the United States, and our sub-processors primarily operate from the United States and other jurisdictions. When you use the Website or a Product, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States. Where required by applicable law, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers, including Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms offered by our sub-processors.
Data Security
We apply technical and organizational measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the information we handle. These include encryption in transit over HTTPS for all Website and Product network connections, restricted administrative access to production systems, and storage of license keys as SHA-256 hashes rather than plain text. No security measure is perfect, and you acknowledge that no system can guarantee absolute security.
Retention and Deletion
Parcse does not maintain user accounts, uploaded files, or server-side user content from our Products. Specific retention practices are as follows:
- Purchase records. Retained as required for tax, accounting, and legal obligations, typically for seven (7) years.
- License records. Retained for as long as the license is in use. Deactivated devices are marked inactive and remain associated with the license for recordkeeping.
- Trial records. Retained indefinitely for the purpose of preventing repeated trial issuance to the same device or IP address.
- Analytics events. Retained for up to 90 days. Records are used in aggregate and contain no direct identifiers.
- Email correspondence. Retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, follow up, and maintain related business records.
- Local caches. Exist only on your device and can be cleared in the relevant Product's preferences.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights with respect to the personal information we hold about you:
- Access a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Request deletion of your information, subject to our legal retention obligations.
- Request that we restrict our processing of your information.
- Request a machine-readable export of information you provided to us.
- Object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
- Opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information; we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, contact hello@parcse.com.
Legal Bases
Where applicable law requires a legal basis for processing, Parcse generally relies on your consent when you choose to contact us, on the performance of a contract when processing purchase information and operating Products under a license, and on our legitimate interests in securing, operating, and improving our Website, Products, and business.
Third-Party Components
Our Products do not embed third-party advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or data-collection frameworks operated by third parties. The Sparkle update framework, which we use for software updates, is a third-party component, but it only communicates with Parcse servers as described in the Network Access section. If you choose to work with content that references a third-party resource, or if our Website requests a third-party asset to render a page, your interaction with that resource is governed by the applicable third party's terms and privacy practices.
Children's Privacy
Our Products and Website are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required by applicable law in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher). If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us at hello@parcse.com and we will promptly delete it.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated Privacy Policy at this URL and revise the effective date below.
